Kuala lumpur: Malaysia is committed to strengthening international cooperation to advance the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said today. Nga, who is also the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) president, emphasized Malaysia's active role in global sustainability efforts, highlighting the importance of collaboration with international partners to address shared urban challenges.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nga stated that Malaysia is ready to contribute to solutions for global urban challenges while also learning from the experiences of others. The statement, issued by the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) during a Festive Season Goodwill reception, underscored Malaysia's achievements on the global stage. This comes after Malaysia received the Global Zero Waste Special Citation Award from the Zero Waste Foundation, under the patronage of Turkiye's First Lady, Emine Erdogan.
The recognition emphasizes Malaysia's commitment to waste management and sustainability. Nga noted that Malaysia is dedicated to expanding cooperation through sharing expertise, knowledge, and experience with global partners. The reception was a historic milestone, marking the first time KPKT hosted embassies and high commissions in Malaysia, reflecting the country's commitment to fostering unity and strengthening international cooperation based on universal humanitarian values.
Aligned with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, Nga stated that KPKT remains dedicated to building inclusive, resilient, and sustainable communities, actively contributing to global agendas like sustainable urban development, affordable housing, and zero-waste initiatives. He mentioned that the true spirit of the festive season is about the bonds built beyond diversity and differences in belief, united by the same human instinct.
During the event, KPKT also presented festive contributions to children under the Ziarah Sahabat Kanser association, highlighting compassion and humanity during the festive season.
