Malaysia Records 2,897 New COVID Cases On Tuesday

KUALA LUMPUR, The number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia increased slightly with 2,897 from 2,757 on Monday, bringing the cumulative figure to 2,746,833.

Health director-general, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that out of the new cases, 50 per cent were in categories 3, 4 and 5 while the rest were in categories 1 and 2, having slight or no symptoms.

“The daily figure involves 2,705 local and 192 imported cases, with 302 of the cases being treated at the intensive care units including 169 needing respiratory support,” he said in a statement on the latest COVID-19 developments in the country on Tuesday.

On the cases that have recovered, 3,434 have been recorded, bringing the cumulative number to 2,673,084.

Meanwhile, four new clusters have been detected, bringing the number of active clusters to 226 while the infectivity rate (Rt) in the country was at 0.93 up to on Monday.

Dr Noor Hisham also said that 434 COVID-19 cases were detected among the flood victims, including 14 at the flood relief centres (PPS) up to 3 pm today.

However, there are no new clusters reported today among the flood victims at the PPS.
