Kuala lumpur: Malaysia wants the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take firmer action against Israel, including imposing embargoes, boycotts, and sanctions, following its atrocities and violations of international law against the Palestinian people. Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said such measures should be implemented in an integrated manner by OIC member states if a mutual agreement could be reached.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad Hasan emphasized the need to exert pressure on Israel through various forms of sanctions against the Israeli Zionist regime. He expressed concerns over Israel's continued violations of humanitarian and international laws, stressing the need for a coordinated response from OIC member states. Mohamad led the Malaysian delegation to the Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers to discuss the latest developments concerning Palestine and efforts to strengthen member states' stance against Israel.

Mohamad also urged the OIC and the Arab League to coordinate their actions ahead of the United Nations assembly in September. He emphasized the importance of mobilizing the voices of Islamic nations more effectively and suggested considering restrictions on the supply of weapons to Israel. He highlighted the need for systematic and integrated pressure from OIC and Arab League countries and proposed sanctions on Israel to prevent the supply of weapons used against Palestinians.

Mohamad noted that the OIC must continue to condemn Israel's actions and press for acceptance of the ceasefire plan proposed by the United States. He pointed out that several European countries had already taken steps to prevent military equipment from reaching Israel, while Malaysia had consistently maintained such a stance. He stressed that a comprehensive embargo would be more effective with international community support and decisions through the UN General Assembly and Security Council approval.

Mohamad also voiced Malaysia's objection to Israel's plan to expand its control in the West Bank through the E1 Plan, which would further increase illegal Israeli settlements. He called on the international community to ensure the immediate cessation of Palestinian evictions and the destruction of their homes, urging Israel to withdraw from occupied areas. He described such actions as colonization that violates international law and constitutes a crime against the Palestinian people.
