Kuala lumpur: Malaysia, as the Chair of the 47th ASEAN Summit next week, must ensure that every discussion held yields tangible impact, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized the importance of strengthening regional cohesion and delivering benefits to all member states as well as dialogue partners involved in the summit, which is scheduled to take place from October 26 to 28 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar has instructed the entire government machinery and relevant agencies to carry out preparations with utmost precision and commitment. He expressed his appreciation for all personnel who have worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth progress of all arrangements. Anwar shared several photos of his visit earlier today to inspect the preparations for the summit at KLCC, accompanied by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary to the Government, Shamsul Azri, stated that the visit aimed to ensure that every aspect of the organisation was in top form, including venue preparations, logistics, security control, programme flow, and overall coordination. He expressed confidence in Malaysia’s readiness to welcome more than 30,000 delegates starting October 25, crediting the commitment and dedication of the entire organising team.
The 47th ASEAN Summit, scheduled from October 26 to 28, marks the culmination of Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN 2025, under the theme ‘Inclusion and Sustainability’. It will gather all ASEAN member state leaders, dialogue partners, and guests, with Anwar previously stating that it is expected to be among the largest in the history of the regional bloc’s summits.
