Malaysia Not Passive On Sovereignty Despite Neutral Diplomatic Stance – DPM Fadillah

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia will not remain passive on issues of international sovereignty despite its neutral diplomatic stance, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said. He described the country's diplomacy as pragmatic and independent, with Malaysia maintaining good relations with all parties while upholding principles of global justice.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadillah emphasized that neutrality does not equate to passivity or ambiguity. 'When we say we are neutral, it does not mean we are passive or unclear in our position. We have principles, and we engage pragmatically with all relevant parties,' he stated during a Bernama Radio exclusive interview on how geopolitical crises drive Malaysia's energy transition, held at Wisma Bernama.

Fadillah was received at the Malaysian National News Agency's headquarters by its chairman, Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, alongside chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin. Also present were key editorial figures, including editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, deputy editor-in-chief (News Services) Mohd Shukri Ishak, and acting deputy editor-in-chief (Economic News Services) Harlina Samson.

The Deputy Prime Minister further elaborated on Malaysia's active diplomatic engagements with countries such as Turkiye and Pakistan. He highlighted ongoing collaborations with international bodies like the United Nations and the United States to pursue peaceful solutions. Despite firm stances on sovereignty issues, Malaysia continues to balance its diplomatic ties, particularly in trade, to support economic growth.

Fadillah noted that Malaysia's trade relations with major global players, including China, the US, Europe, and the ASEAN region, are expanding. He reiterated that Malaysia's primary diplomatic objective is to foster global stability, which is essential for sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity.
