Malaysia Masters: Arif-Roy King Target Semi-Final Berth

Kuala lumpur: Malaysian men's doubles pair Yap Roy King-Wan Arif Wan Junaidi are targeting a place in the semi-finals at the Malaysia Masters next week.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Roy King has expressed confidence in their goal, citing the tournament draw as a factor that makes their target realistic.

However, Roy King acknowledged that considerable work remains as his partner, Arif, has only recently returned from injury and resumed training this week. "Looking at the draw, my target with Arif for this tournament is the semi-finals. But Arif has just recovered from injury and this is actually his first week back in training. He is also wearing a knee guard, but we will try our best," he said during the national team training session.

Arif-Roy King are set to face Taiwan's He Zhi Wei-Huang Jui Hsuan in the first round. Should they progress, they would meet fellow Malaysians Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing in the second round. Roy King has also taken personal steps to enhance his performance, particularly focusing on his agility on the court.

He mentioned, "I believe my movement on court was quite slow because of my weight. I want to lose weight and see the results, as I'm now 73 kg compared to 78 kg previously."
