Malaysia Launches Initiative to Boost Global Halal Market Leadership

Kuala Lumpur:The government has launched the Malaysia Halal Global Nexus (MHGN) initiative, a strategy designed to enhance international market reach, strengthen networks among industrial players, and increase global confidence in the integrity of Malaysia's halal products.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Senator Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), stated that the MHGN initiative is a result of collaboration between the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). JAKIM is responsible for halal governance and standards, while MATRADE contributes expertise in international trade promotion.

The initiative, under the tagline 'Connecting the Global Halal Ecosystem,' seeks coordinated support from all ministries, agencies, and industrial players to ensure that Malaysia's halal products and services continue to lead global supply chains. This announcement was made during the Global Halal Summit (GHAS) 2026, held alongside the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026.

Zulkifli highlighted Malaysia's position as a major global leader in the halal economy, noting the growth of halal exports and the expansion of halal industrial and commercial hubs. This growth signifies the resilience and competitiveness of Malaysia's halal ecosystem.

He emphasized that the Malaysian halal certification system, led by JAKIM, plays a crucial role in this success. With a strong certification framework and recognition of foreign halal certification bodies worldwide, Malaysia has established a trustworthy chain that bolsters international confidence in halal products and services.

Malaysia remains dedicated to enhancing its role in the global halal market through trusted standards, innovation, technology, and strategic international cooperation.
