Malaysia Engages Indonesia in Haze Mitigation Efforts, Says PM Anwar

Accra:The Malaysian government has made significant efforts to engage with Indonesia to address the worsening transboundary haze situation, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized that the government has done everything possible to tackle the issue. He made these remarks to reporters after launching the Universiti Malaya Residensi Siswa Project.

Anwar's comments came in response to criticisms that the government had not been proactive enough in dealing with the haze problem. Former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had criticized Malaysia for its perceived softness in dealing with Indonesia on the matter and called for a firmer approach.

Despite his criticism, Khairy, in the latest episode of his Keluar Sekejap podcast, recognized the importance of diplomatic engagement to find a resolution to the haze issue.
