Malaysia Condemns Israeli Attack on Iran, Calls for Peace Efforts

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia strongly condemns Israel's attack on Iran, supported by the United States, and stresses that any act targeting civilians is a clear violation of international law. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed deep condolences to the people of Iran following the significant loss of senior leadership figures, including those in political, military, and security roles, as well as innocent lives.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar has reached out to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, to obtain the latest updates on the escalating conflict in West Asia. He reiterated Malaysia's condemnation of any act targeting civilians, emphasizing that such actions violate international law, humanitarian principles, and the values of justice. Anwar also highlighted Iran's readiness to negotiate, contingent upon a definitive end to the war.

Anwar noted that past experiences have shown that ceasefires without firm guarantees risk repeating cycles of violence, as witnessed in Gaza and Lebanon. He stressed that peace efforts must be grounded in justice, accountability, and sustained commitment.

Malaysia believes that lasting peace requires a comprehensive resolution to ensure the security of all parties and restore human dignity in West Asia. Anwar appreciated President Pezeshkian's recognition of Malaysia's support and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening this solidarity. He concluded by expressing hope for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in West Asia soon.
