According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Lumpur’s iconic landmarks, including the Twin Towers and Tun Razak Exchange, attracted throngs of revelers eager to partake in the excitement. The Kuala Lumpur Tower offered a breathtaking fireworks display, earning a record for the ‘Highest Altitude Fireworks Display in Malaysia’ at 307.610 meters above ground.
In Selangor, the MySports I-City theme park in Shah Alam was a focal point for families, who gathered as early as 8 p.m. for the anticipated midnight fireworks. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari highlighted the Darul Ehsan Berselawat programme, a spiritual event that drew hundreds of thousands over three days, concluding the year on a high note.
Putrajaya saw thousands gather at Dataran Putrajaya, where the Palace of Justice was lit with dramatic light projections. The event, held as part of the LAMPU 2024 Festival, featured performances by pop icon Ziana Zain and a silent drill by the Royal Malaysian Navy. Spiritual activities at Masjid Putra began at 6 p.m., including Quranic recitations and night prayers.
In Perlis, the state government organized a New Year carnival featuring an Islamic forum, while in Kedah, the celebrations coincided with the launch of Visit Kedah Year 2025. Penang’s Esplanade in George Town and The Top at KOMTAR were filled with locals and tourists, eagerly awaiting the fireworks.
Perak’s Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout hosted about 35,000 visitors for a vibrant countdown and the finale of Visit Perak Year 2024. In Melaka, over 50,000 attendees gathered at Persiaran Jalan Merdeka, with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf participating in the launch of the upcoming World Tourism Day 2025.
Kelantan’s celebrations included a talk by Ustaz Mohammad Wadi Annuar Ayub, attended by state leaders. Terengganu observed a modest ‘Malam Munajat Terengganu Darul Iman’ programme, with prayers and religious talks attended by 15,000 people.
In Pahang, residents gathered at Kuantan 188 tower and Tasek KotaSAS for bazaars and fireworks. Sarawak’s celebrations at Kuching Waterfront proceeded despite rain, with state leaders in attendance. Sabah’s Countdown 2025 event featured a drone performance and fireworks, with Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor delivering a message of unity for the new year.
