Malaysia and Vietnam Commit to Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Strategic Cooperation

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia and Vietnam are prepared to enhance their bilateral relations and explore further strategic cooperation opportunities, as stated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar highlighted these intentions following a phone conversation with Vietnamese Prime Minister Ph?m Minh Ch­nh.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed appreciation for Vietnam’s readiness to dispatch a ministerial-level delegation aimed at bolstering strategic collaboration between the two nations. He mentioned the ongoing communication between the countries, especially in anticipation of their forthcoming meeting in China in early September.

The discussions between the leaders also addressed various regional developments and global issues, including US tariffs. They explored potential future cooperation in innovation, energy security, and the ASEAN Power Grid initiative. Anwar also welcomed progress in ceasefire negotiations between Thailand and Cambodia, acknowledging the Malaysian-led monitoring team’s visit to the affected areas. Both leaders emphasized the significance of continued monitoring to maintain stability and peace within the ASEAN region.
