Malaysia and Vietnam Commit to Enhancing Cooperation in Digital Economy and AI

Hanoi: Malaysia and Vietnam are set to enhance their strategic cooperation in the fields of digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI), as well as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the commitment was reached following a meeting between Anwar and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung. The two nations also pledged to expand their collaboration in areas such as food security, renewable energy, and implementing more sustainable financial governance. Anwar highlighted Malaysia's support for the signing of various strategic initiatives, including a memorandum of understanding (MoU) focusing on the digital economy, and the pursuit of cross-border energy projects aimed at fostering regional development.

Anwar emphasized the strong and continuing friendship between Malaysia and Vietnam, which is now anchored by a comprehensive strategic partnership. He stressed the importance of ASEAN as a platform for cooperation built on trust, sustainability, and shared progress. In light of global challenges, Anwar underscored the necessity for the region to enhance economic, educational, and technological networks to ensure collective well-being.

The Prime Minister is currently leading the Malaysian delegation at the 48th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings, taking place in Hanoi from May 7 to 8.
