Malaysia and Singapore to Collaborate on GovTech, Housing, and Public Sector Reform

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia and Singapore are now exploring strategic cooperation in three main areas – GovTech, public housing, and public sector reform – to strengthen public service delivery. Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar identified these areas of collaboration during his three-day official working visit to Singapore.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Shamsul Azri emphasized that Malaysia aims to learn from Singapore, particularly in the implementation of GovTech, affordable housing through the Singapore Housing Board, and reforms in the public service. He noted that Singapore has already implemented GovTech, while Malaysia is in the process of launching its own.

Shamsul Azri mentioned that Singapore welcomed the cooperation and exchange of best practices between the two countries to improve public service quality. He added that discussions were held on strategic cooperation between the Malaysian and Singaporean governments.

In his speech, Shamsul Azri encouraged Malaysians to adopt a healthy lifestyle through sports and good nutrition, citing Singapore’s higher average life expectancy of 83.5 years compared to about 75 years in Malaysia. He emphasized the importance of prevention over cure in maintaining health.
