Kuala Lumpur:The government has allocated RM60 million to the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) for the coming year to assist local companies in building capacity to enter and diversify into overseas markets.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, while presenting Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat, announced that Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) would provide RM1 billion in financing to help local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) expand into export markets.
Additionally, an RM142 million allocation has been designated to strengthen the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), facilitating more young entrepreneurs to venture into online business.
The government, in collaboration with the Retirement Fund (Incorporated), has also established the RM50 million UNIVC Fund aimed at bringing university research findings to market. Moreover, the government is ready to bear early-stage risks to encourage private capital to support local innovations.
A further RM10 million has been allocated for the 'Jom Beli Produk Malaysia' (JOM MALAYSIA) campaign, designed to bring rural products and high-value services onto digital platforms and into global markets.
To support the low-altitude economy, including the drone sector, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) is investing RM50 million in developing a digital system to manage airspace, national test sites, and safety standards.
Prime Minister Anwar also highlighted that in the first eight months of 2026, the country's trade reached RM2.5 trillion, with exports increasing by 31.2 percent to RM1.36 trillion.
