Ayer keroh: The Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) is strengthening efforts to promote sports culture through the ‘Malaysia Aktif’ programme, a national platform designed to encourage healthy living among Malaysians. Its deputy minister, Adam Adli Abdul Halim, said the programme is a continuation of ‘Fit Malaysia’, one of the ministry’s flagship initiatives, but now with a fresh approach to ensure more people stay active in sports.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, ‘Malaysia Aktif’ is an open brand that can be organised at any level, whether by communities or associations, with support from the state Youth and Sports Department (JBS). Adam Adli highlighted that the programme is not limited to large-scale events but can also be held in neighbourhoods or villages, giving everyone the chance to adopt a healthier lifestyle through sports.
Earlier, Adam Adli launched Malaysia Aktif Melaka 2025 @ Parlimen Hang Tuah Jaya in Ayer Keroh, which was also attended by Melaka JBS director Zailani Siran. The programme saw 800 participants in the Fun Run and Fun Walk events, while total attendance was estimated at around 2,500 people. Other highlights included pickleball, traditional games such as ‘dam aji’ and ‘konda kondi’, as well as extreme activities like wall climbing.
