MAIWP Allocates RM75,000 For Clothes, Raya Essentials For 250 Asnaf Recipients

Kuala lumpur: The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) has allocated RM75,000 to help 250 asnaf (eligible zakat recipients) from across the Federal Territories purchase Hari Raya necessities. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan announced the allocation, highlighting the beneficiaries from Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya, who will receive assistance under the Rahmah MADANI Ramadan MAIWP: Shopping for Asnaf Clothing and Hari Raya Essentials 2026M/1447H programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Zulkifli emphasized the importance of such initiatives in supporting the development of the ummah, particularly the asnaf group assisted by MAIWP. The event, attended by key figures such as MAIWP chairman Datuk Syed Kamarulzaman Syed Kabeer and Aeon Big Malaysia's Takanori Komatsu, saw participation from 100 recipients representing 18 families in Kuala Lumpur.

Zulkifli also acknowledged the contributions of zakat donors through the MAIWP Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ), which made this programme possible. Each recipient received RM300 to purchase items such as festive outfits and shoes for Hari Raya.

Norhayati Malek, a single mother of seven, expressed her gratitude for the assistance, which came at a crucial time after the recent loss of her husband. She shared her initial plans to forgo new purchases for Hari Raya, making the support from MAIWP especially meaningful for her family.

Additionally, young recipient Nur Syazila Muhammad shared her excitement about buying new clothes and shoes for the celebration. She also mentioned receiving RM50 duit raya, which she plans to partially save for school expenses.
