MAIS Allocates RM11.7 Million to Support 27 Riqab Rehabilitation Houses

Kuala Lumpur: The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) today announced a significant donation of RM11.7 million to 27 Riqab Rehabilitation Houses (RPR) through the Riqab Rehabilitation Assistance Grant. This financial support aims to enhance the welfare of riqab asnaf, with a particular focus on those residing in Selangor.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIS Riqab Committee chairman Tan Sri Hashim Meon elaborated that the generous contribution covers the expenses related to programs, management, and care of Asnaf Riqab across all RPRs under MAIS’s supervision for this year. Among the beneficiaries are institutions like the Selangor Charity and Welfare Organisation (PAKATS), Rumah Sahabat, Rumah Perlindungan Darul Ukhuwah, Pertubuhan Insan Permata Disayangi (PINTAS), and Bayt Rahmah Women’s Protection and Guidance House.

In addition to this, MAIS has allocated RM400,000 to support 1,000 Asnaf Riqab in the state, enabling them to prepare early for Syawal. This was highlighted by Hashim during his speech at the RPR 2025 Tadarus and Iftar Perdana Ceremony.

Hashim further explained that the donation, sourced from the zakat allocation for asnaf riqab, is intended to aid asnaf riqab in need of rehabilitation, protection, treatment, prevention, and control assistance. This initiative aims to encourage them to reintegrate successfully into society.

He expressed MAIS’s hope that the assistance will be utilized effectively, particularly by RPR operators, to ensure the provision of appropriate protection, rehabilitation, and guidance for the asnaf.
