MAIPs Allocates RM6.05 Million for Fitrah Aid to Support Over 12,000 Asnaf

Kuala lumpur: The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) has designated RM6,056,000 for this year's Fitrah Aid to support asnaf (tithe recipients), including the poor and needy, to prepare for Ramadan and the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations. A total of 12,112 individuals from these groups will receive the assistance in stages.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the aid was symbolically launched by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also the President of MAIPs, during an Iftar Jamaie (communal breaking of fast) ceremony with Council and Committee Members under MAIPs in Kuala Lumpur last night.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin decreed that every MAIPs committee should play a complementary role in strengthening and improving the Islamic governance ecosystem in Perlis to achieve a more excellent and competitive level. He also emphasized efforts to empower zakat (tithe) and waqf (endowment) management for greater impact, expand sustainable education and training for the asnaf, and modernize service delivery through digitalization, which will directly impact the improvement of the asnaf group's standard of living.

"These initiatives are believed to be capable of accelerating efforts toward the total eradication of poverty in the state of Perlis within a shorter timeframe," said Tuanku Syed. He added that the strengthening of Islamic educational and welfare institutions reflects MAIPs' determination to continue progressing in line with contemporary demands without neglecting Shariah principles and traditional values, which are the core strength of Islamic institutions in this state.

During the event, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also presented Letters of Appointment to the MAIPs Committee Members for the 2026-2027 term.
