MAIPk Allocates RM470,000 to Sponsor Asnaf Youth in Maritime TVET Course

Perak: The Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) has strengthened its commitment to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) agenda by allocating RM470,000 to sponsor 25 asnaf (underprivileged) youth for a ship crew course (deck and engine) in the maritime sector.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIPk stated on its Facebook page that the investment, amounting to RM18,800 per participant, demonstrates its determination to produce highly skilled human capital that meets industry demands. This initiative aims to create a pathway for a more sustainable and prosperous life for the underprivileged youth involved.

Over three months, the participants will undergo professional training at the Ranaco Education and Training Institute in Chukai, Terengganu. The programme encompasses theoretical and practical training, professional certification, and acquiring a seaman's licence, a crucial requirement for entry into the maritime industry. "TVET is not just a platform for skills development, but also a catalyst for the socio-economic transformation of the asnaf group," the statement noted.

MAIPk further mentioned that upon completing their training, the participants will be placed into employment within the maritime industry, offering them the opportunity to build careers, enhance their skills, and enjoy better income prospects. The send-off ceremony for the participants was officiated by the MAIPk Asnaf Empowerment Division General Manager Amirudin Osman at Kompleks Islam Darul Ridzuan.
