Manjung: The Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) has announced an allocation of RM421,000 this year to support 214 students from underprivileged backgrounds through the Baitulmal Education Scholarship Scheme (SBBP).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIPk's chief executive officer, Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh, stated that the funding will benefit 183 Form Five students and 31 Form Four students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements. The initiative ensures that each SBBP recipient receives RM1,500 in annual financial support along with additional educational resources such as online tuition, motivational programs, participation in the SPM Excellence Seminar, and examination achievement incentives.

Syamsul emphasized that the program's goal extends beyond financial aid, aiming to provide comprehensive support to asnaf children to enhance their academic performance and build their self-confidence. This was highlighted in a statement released during the 2026 SPM Excellence Seminar held in Manjung.

The seminar is conducted across five zones in Perak, targeting 183 Form Five students who are preparing for the SPM examination this year. It focuses on equipping students with effective examination strategies while fostering a positive mindset, boosting confidence, and offering stress management techniques.

In addition, the MAIPk Wakalah Collaboration Programme has facilitated the donation of laptops worth RM60,000 to 30 SBBP students by Pintas Utama Sdn Bhd. Syamsul noted that these laptops will enhance the students' learning experience by improving their access to digital technology. He also highlighted the significance of such partnerships in optimizing the distribution of zakat benefits, particularly in advancing the education and future prospects of asnaf children.
