MAIPk Allocates RM10.9 Million for Asnaf TVET Training Programme

Perak: The Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) has set aside RM10.9 million this year for its Asnaf Skills Training Programme in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), involving 1,200 participants across the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIPk chief executive officer Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh stated that the allocation from zakat funds would cover skills training costs, professional certification, and other training needs for the participants. "The programme reflects MAIPk's ongoing commitment to improving the socio-economic well-being of asnaf through education, skills training, and the development of competitive human capital," he said during the launch ceremony that involved 340 participants.

Participants in the programme will receive training in various sectors, including construction, oil and gas, industrial automation, welding, shipping, healthcare, and services. The courses range from one to nine months, depending on the chosen programme. Syamsul Hazeman noted that the programme involves six training institutions: Akademi Binaan Malaysia Wilayah Utara, SRC Global Resources Sdn Bhd, Vision University College, Kulim Advanced Technologies Sdn Bhd, Northwestern Institute of Advanced Technical Skills, and Haaza Centre of Excellence.

Syamsul Hazeman also highlighted that around 10,000 applications were received this year, with candidates selected based on specific criteria and conditions. This initiative is one of MAIPk's key strategies to equip more asnaf with high-level skills, enabling them to contribute to Perak's economic growth. The efforts are in line with empowering the ummah through education and skills training.
