Kota bharu: The Kelantan Council of Islamic Religious and Malay Customs (MAIK) collected over RM1.3 million in cash waqf from January to August 22 this year, marking a 38.44 percent increase from RM992,493 collected last year. MAIK president Tengku Temenggong Kelantan Tengku Tan Sri Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz stated that the growth in collections showcases a strong public response to the council's cash waqf initiative.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIK has utilized RM1,196,961 from the fund to execute 16 high-impact projects. These projects include repairs to MAIK's Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran school in Pendek, Kota Bharu, providing an ultrasound machine to Gua Musang Hospital, and constructing a tube well at the surau in Kampung Manok, Pos Sungai Rual, Jeli. Additionally, funds have been allocated for cataract equipment at Tanah Merah Hospital and repairing water supplies to toilets in Jeli.

Tengku Mohamad Rizam emphasized that the cash waqf funds entrusted by the public are being converted into tangible community benefits. The initiatives address various sectors, including education, healthcare, welfare, and basic amenities.

MAIK also expressed gratitude to the state government for streamlining land waqf procedures through a one-stop approach, significantly enhancing the efficiency of land surrender and reservation processes.
