Kuala terengganu: The Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIDAM) successfully collected RM89,250 in waqf (endowment) funds through the organisation of the ‘Fun Run and Ride for Waqf 2025’ Programme held today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAIDAM’s Chief Executive Officer, Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Azrin Adnan, credited the success to the participation of 1,800 individuals in the second edition of the programme. This event aims to integrate physical, mental, and spiritual health aspects, aligning with the comprehensive concept of waqf.
He noted that the programme attracted enthusiastic participation from diverse sections of society, including children and senior citizens, and highlighted the growth in participants from last year’s 1,200. “It is not just a recreational activity, but an approach to educate the community to make the practice of waqf a part of their lifestyle,” he stated during the flag-off ceremony at Wisma Darul Iman.
Also in attendance were Terengganu State Secretary Datuk Zulkifli Ali and MAIDAM President Datuk Shaikh Harun Shaikh Ismail. Ahmad Azrin emphasized that the run was part of the Terengganu State Waqf Month 2025 celebrations, with the main event to be officiated by the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, on October 23.
He also expressed gratitude towards sponsors and strategic partners, acknowledging their role in the event’s success and highlighting the potential of waqf as a catalyst for future economic development within the Muslim community.
