MAHB Issues Travel Advisory Due to Airspace Restrictions Affecting Middle East Routes

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has issued a travel advisory for passengers traveling to, from, or transiting through parts of the Middle East. The advisory urges travelers to check their latest flight status directly with their respective airlines before heading to the airport. This move comes as airspace restrictions in certain parts of the region might result in delays, rerouting, or cancellations based on airline safety assessments.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAHB emphasized that even where services continue to operate, schedules and routing may be revised at short notice. The advisory strongly recommends passengers verify their flight status directly with their airline to avoid inconvenience.

Furthermore, MAHB highlighted that passengers planning to travel to affected destinations in the Middle East should be aware that disruptions are not limited to direct services from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Even if travelers use alternative transit points outside the region, onward services into the affected destinations might be suspended or restricted. Therefore, it is crucial for travelers to verify the status of their entire journey, including connecting sectors, before making any travel arrangements.

The airport community, which includes Malaysia Airports as an operator, airlines, ground handlers, regulators, and relevant airport stakeholders, is closely monitoring developments. Airport teams are on standby to offer guidance and coordinate necessary arrangements with airlines, as well as provide assistance to affected passengers at the terminals.

MAHB has also encouraged passengers to update their airlines with their contact details and to monitor official airline and airport channels for timely updates. For information on passenger rights, travelers can refer to the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code under the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

Additionally, MAHB advises consulting official travel advisories issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia (Wisma Putra) before any travel. The advisory concludes with a reminder that safety remains the highest priority, urging passengers to plan ahead and stay informed.
