MAHA 2026 to Feature International Exhibitors, Aiming to Enhance Local Engagement

Putrajaya: The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA) 2026 is set to be enriched by the presence of international exhibitors, introducing a fresh aspect to the biennial event. Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu confirmed that countries such as Brazil, China, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Hungary, and China's Guangxi region have already committed to participating.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this year's event marks the first inclusion of foreign exhibitors. Minister Mohamad Sabu expressed optimism for smooth proceedings and noted that Uzbekistan has also shown interest in participating, with other nations yet to confirm. He emphasized the interconnected nature of food security, highlighting that no country can independently resolve its food challenges and that international collaboration is essential, particularly in times of crisis.

Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (MAFS) secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak elaborated on the benefits of international participation. He stated that it would allow local participants to update their knowledge and stay informed about the latest agricultural technologies. The event will also enable attendees to explore offerings from foreign exhibitors alongside local products and services. Business matching sessions are planned to provide opportunities for buying and selling products, fostering potential collaborations between local and international participants.

In addition to the exhibition, Minister Mohamad launched the Surveillance and Intervention Supply Demand Agrofood (SISDA) system. This system is designed to bolster the country's food supply and market monitoring capabilities by utilizing big data analytics, machine learning, and an early warning system. The government aims to improve its projections and interventions, ensuring food supply stability, affordable consumer prices, and better returns for agrofood sector participants.
