Sumatra: A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 struck northern Sumatra at 12.18 pm today, with tremors felt in several areas along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that the quake was centred at 4.2 degrees North and 97.6 degrees East, at a depth of 10 kilometres. The epicentre was located about 55 km southwest of Langsa, Indonesia, as stated in an official release.

MetMalaysia has encouraged members of the public who experienced the tremors to fill out the department's online questionnaire. This initiative is intended to assist in gathering data on the impact of the earthquake across affected regions.
