Kuala lumpur: The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) plans to establish Community Rehabilitation Centres (PPDK) at major camps to support children with special needs. Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Malek Razak Sulaiman emphasized this initiative as a measure to assist MAF personnel, particularly those with special needs children.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the move is intended to prioritize the welfare of MAF personnel and their families, ensuring that those serving in critical areas can focus on their duties without concerns for their family's safety. The aim is to have at least one PPDK at every major camp, providing care and support for children with special needs.

Malek Razak also highlighted that the MAF is undertaking 898 maintenance projects involving 15,024 units of Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) to improve living conditions for personnel. These projects, funded under a P60 allocation, began in April and are expected to conclude by December. They include 301 accommodation blocks and 989 infrastructure works, with a specific focus on quality and timely completion.

Projek Cakna MADANI, part of these efforts, targets the maintenance of 2,097 selected RKAT units. Additionally, the socio-economic status of soldiers' wives is being addressed through the Armed Forces Welfare Body (BAKAT), which supports initiatives like mushroom cultivation and vegetable farming.

Upgrading infrastructure at older camps is also a priority, with improvements to technical buildings, offices, and facilities such as hostels and dining halls. Malek Razak reiterated that these welfare plans are guided by the principle of mutual support within the MAF community.

The MAF recently celebrated its 93rd anniversary, emphasizing the theme "Ketahanan ATM, Benteng Pertahanan Negara" (MAF Resilience, Bastion of National Defence).
