Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) is actively enhancing its cyber defence capabilities to counter increasingly complex digital threats and attacks, as stated by Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari. The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) is prioritizing national security in the face of rising cybersecurity challenges.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Adly highlighted the role of the Defence Science and Electromagnetics Division (BSEP) within the ministry, which is tasked with managing cyber and technology needs to address various threats. Efforts are underway to expand the cyber domain across all branches of service, including land, sea, and air.
Adly emphasized that future conflicts will transcend physical battles, incorporating disruptions and attacks within the cyberspace. The ministry is focusing on strengthening assets and developing skilled manpower in the field of cybersecurity. Military students with high cyber skills are being identified to contribute to the development of the nation’s cyber defence capabilities.
The ongoing efforts are deemed crucial to maintain the sovereignty and security of Malaysia.
