Serdang: The Malaysia Agricultural Expo Park (MAEPS) is gearing up to host the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026, utilizing its entire 320-acre area for indoor and outdoor exhibitions to deliver a complete experience for visitors and highlight the agro-food sector's value chain.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Dr Mohd Haniff Hassan, head of the MAHA 2026 secretariat and secretary of the Food and Agro-Based Industry Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), emphasized that MAEPS has been the ideal location for MAHA since 2006 due to its strategic proximity to University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the Malaysia Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), offering logistical, educational, and research advantages.
Mohd Haniff noted that MAHA 2026, scheduled from August 28 to September 6, is anticipated to attract around 4 million visitors due to its timing with school holidays. The event will fully optimize both indoor and outdoor spaces at MAEPS to display the agricultural and agro-food sector's entire value chain.
Hall A will feature domestic and international exhibitions, business matching sessions, the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoU), and the Malaysia Go Global program with exporters and international buyers. Hall C will showcase mechanization, machinery, and robotics, while Hall D will focus on agriculture and agro-food content.
The outdoor area of ??MAEPS will present attractions such as a padi field, pineapple farm, floating market, petting zoo, mini agro safari, and state pavilions displaying local entrepreneurs' products and activities.
MAHA 2026 will spotlight the latest agricultural technology, including drones, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and mechanisation, enhancing the agro-food sector's added value. Themed "Value Creation for Food Security," the biennial event aims to share information on data-based agricultural technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
For visitor comfort, Mohd Haniff detailed plans for improved traffic control, security, tram services, public transportation, and e-hailing facilities. With over 5,000 free parking spaces at MAEPS, visitors are encouraged to use public transportation to ease congestion, especially on peak days.
MAHA 2026 will also offer educational and entertainment activities, such as Rhythm of the Farmers, Magical World, and a drone and fireworks show on August 30. Preparations include the Road to MAHA program, designed to connect the community with the agro-food sector ahead of the expo.
The event aims to unite modern agricultural technology, innovation, investment opportunities, and industry collaboration, targeting an MoU value of RM8 billion and direct sales of RM58 million.
