Sungai Petani: The government is committed to addressing issues faced by the people in each parliamentary constituency through a series of outreach programmes, while also delivering Ihsan MADANI contributions to selected recipients.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Prime Minister’s political secretary, Datuk Azman Abidin, emphasized that these programmes are not merely about providing aid but are designed to identify and address unresolved problems in constituencies that their MPs may not have been able to tackle effectively. ‘This initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s intent, but due to his busy schedule, he has entrusted us to go on the ground and engage with people nationwide, a practice we began in 2023,’ he said.
Azman highlighted that if there are issues that the state government cannot resolve, such as those in Sungai Petani, and require federal intervention, they would escalate these matters to the Prime Minister and relevant agencies for action. He conveyed this during a meeting with the press after distributing Ihsan MADANI contributions to 200 recipients at the Prime Minister’s One-Off Asnaf Assistance Programme held at the Taman Sri Wang Residents’ Hall.
Furthermore, Azman underscored the necessity of collaboration between state and federal governments to ensure effective solutions for public issues. He mentioned a recent courtesy call to the Mayor of Alor Setar, where he was briefed about the challenges faced and the need for federal assistance, particularly from the Housing and Local Government Ministry. ‘Funding is essential for Alor Setar’s development projects. Working in isolation will not yield results. We need cooperation to address development and infrastructure needs effectively,’ Azman stated.
