MACC Intensifies Probe into Former CFO Amid Tabung Haji RCI Revelations

Putrajaya: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today continued recording the statement of a former chief financial officer (CFO) of a company owned by a statutory body as part of its investigation into findings contained in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Tabung Haji.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman stated that the third day of questioning lasted more than seven hours at the commission's headquarters in Putrajaya, focusing on allegations of power abuse involving the purchase of shares in two plantation companies valued at approximately RM370 million.

He mentioned that the 60-year-old former senior executive arrived at the MACC headquarters at around 10 am and completed giving his statement by 5.30 pm. "The recording of his statement for the third day ended at about 5.30 pm and will continue tomorrow for the fourth day," he confirmed when contacted today.

Abd Halim indicated that the statement-recording session is expected to resume at 10 am the following day to complete the investigation. Previously, the MACC detained the former CFO and the company's former chief executive officer, aged 68, after both presented themselves at the commission's headquarters to have their statements recorded.

The investigation is being conducted under laws relating to abuse of power over the acquisition of shares in the two plantation companies worth about RM370 million, as highlighted in the Tabung Haji RCI report.
