Kuala lumpur: Maaedicare Charitable Foundation has raised funds through its annual fundraising gala to expand access to affordable and quality healthcare services for Malaysians in need.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the event, themed 'A Night of Hope and Healing: Shine a Light, Save a Life', gathered corporate partners, donors, and supporters to bolster the foundation's charitable healthcare initiatives. Tunku Datuk Yaacob Khyra, chairman of the foundation, emphasized the need for charitable healthcare organizations to focus on prevention and early intervention in Malaysia's evolving healthcare landscape.
"Healthcare today is no longer solely about treating illness after it occurs. It is about investing in prevention, expanding access to quality care, and ensuring that financial hardship never becomes a barrier to essential healthcare. Every contribution made tonight strengthens our ability to respond to Malaysia's evolving healthcare needs while remaining steadfast in our commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care," he stated.
Yaacob Khyra highlighted Maaedicare's commitment to clinical excellence and innovation, such as implementing ultrasound-guided cannulation across all 11 dialysis centers, affirming the foundation's belief that affordability should not compromise quality healthcare.
Anne Rajasaikaran, chief executive officer of Maaedicare Charitable Foundation, noted that contributions received during the gala would significantly impact patients and their families. "Every contribution made this evening represents far more than financial support. It helps a patient continue life-saving dialysis, access essential medication, travel to treatment, and receive the care they need with dignity. More importantly, it gives hope to individuals and families facing one of life's most difficult journeys," she said.
Rajasaikaran added that Maaedicare currently provides treatment to nearly 770 active dialysis patients through its 11 charity dialysis centers across nine states. The foundation has delivered over 1.2 million dialysis treatments over the past decade, with its Cardiac Diagnostic Centre recording more than 13,000 patient visits.
The foundation's three Klinik Amal Percuma collectively serve approximately 8,000 patients annually, reflecting Maaedicare's ongoing efforts to provide accessible primary healthcare. Preventive healthcare efforts have been bolstered through community-based Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) screening programs, affordable cardiac diagnostic services, and establishing a third Klinik Amal Percuma in Nilai.
The gala was attended by Tunku Temenggong Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'Adzam Shah and Batu Member of Parliament P. Prabakaran. Among the attendees were also Malaysian Medical Association president Datuk Dr Thirunavukarasu Rajoo and president of the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh, alongside corporate partners, sponsors, and donors.
Established in 1994, the Maaedicare Charitable Foundation operates 11 dialysis centers across nine states, Malaysia's only charitable Cardiac Diagnostic Centre, and three Klinik Amal Percuma. The foundation remains focused on improving early detection, reducing chronic disease burdens, and ensuring timely access to affordable healthcare services for more Malaysians.
