LZS Distributes Over RM35 Million In Zakat To 75,207 Families In Selangor

Shah Alam: The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) is set to distribute zakat amounting to RM35,273,200 to a total of 75,207 heads of households from the asnaf category in the state. This initiative aims to assist families in preparing for the upcoming Ramadan and Syawal.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, LZS chief operating officer Ahmad Fadhil Hassan specified that RM12,172,000 will be allocated to 24,920 fakir (hardcore poor) heads of households, RM21,483,700 to 45,847 in the poor category, and RM1,617,500 to 4,440 mualaf (reverts). Each recipient will receive between RM300 and RM1,000, depending on family size. The distribution will commence in stages from March 3, through bank credits, V-Cash vouchers, or cash handouts.

The handover ceremony for Ramadan and Syawal assistance was officiated by LZS board of trustees member Datin Paduka Saudah Sulaiman and marked by the presence of 50 zakat recipients from the Hulu Selangor district. Additional support, including dry and fresh food, will be provided by Selangor Bank Simpanan Nasional and individual zakat payer Dr. Shahrul Zuraidi.

Ahmad Fadhil revealed that the Petaling district would receive the highest zakat distribution, with RM7,021,150 allocated for 14,731 asnaf recipients. This is followed by RM5,875,300 for 12,659 recipients in the Klang district and RM5,394,800 for 11,423 recipients in Hulu Langat district.

Further allocations include RM3,744,250 for 8,051 recipients in Gombak, RM3,306,250 for 7,232 recipients in Kuala Selangor, and RM3,010,450 for 6,431 recipients in Hulu Selangor. In Kuala Langat district, 5,977 recipients will receive RM2,840,150, while Sabak Bernam will allocate RM2,357,350 to 5,229 recipients, and Sepang district will distribute RM1,723,500 to 3,474 recipients.

Recipients will be notified via SMS or letter, and they can verify their assistance status online at ezo.zakatselangor.com.my. Ahmad Fadhil also announced that RM36,436,840 is allocated to support the school preparations of 70,588 children from the fakir, miskin, and mualaf categories for the upcoming 2025 school year.
