LZS Allocates RM35.3 Million for Selangor Community Support During Ramadan

Kuala Lumpur: The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has allocated a substantial RM35.3 million to support the Selangor community during this year’s Ramadan, focusing particularly on the underprivileged. State executive councillor for Islamic Affairs and Innovation, Dr. Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, highlighted that the funds were used to aid 75,207 asnaf and the poor, as well as for mosque infrastructure repairs and programmes designed to invigorate mosques across the state.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) organized the Ihya’ Ramadan Iftar Ceremony with the Sultan of Selangor, which included the Presentation of Hari Raya Contributions at 13 selected mosques. This event was designed to bring Selangor’s leadership closer to the people and strengthen relationships among state civil servants. During the ceremony, the Sultan of Selangor also officiated the opening of seven new mosques.

Mohammad Fahmi further noted that the Permanent Committee on Islamic Affairs implemented the Kembara Masjid Selangor 2025 (KEMAS) programme at nine mosques in Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor, and Petaling. This initiative aimed to encourage youth participation in congregational prayers and assess the conditions of mosques and religious schools in Selangor.

The state also conducted various public programmes, such as iftar, tarawih prayers, community tadarus, and grand qiyamulail. The Selangor Iktikaf Programme, held in collaboration with IKRAM Selangor, included religious talks, children’s activities, congregational prayers, iftar, tarawih, and qiyamulail sessions for families, youth, and local mosque committee members at 20 mosques in the Petaling district.

Mohammad Fahmi emphasized that these Ramadan programmes demonstrate the ongoing commitment of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council, JAIS, and the state government to uphold Islamic values and ensure the welfare of Muslims in Selangor.
