KUALA LUMPUR: The implementation of the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) Hero Entrepreneur Empowerment programme, in which 35 armed forces veterans participated, is a collective effort of all Defence Ministry agencies to boost the economic status of veterans. Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari said his ministry will guarantee its support for efforts to ensure veterans are given proper attention and assistance in recognition of their sacrifices.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Adly expressed his appreciation to LTAT for successfully organising the programme, highlighting LTAT’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of veterans, despite their no longer contributing to the fund. “This initiative shows LTAT’s deep understanding about the needs of the veteran community and its commitment to support veteran entrepreneurs in achieving maximum potential and strengthening their economic status,” he stated during the programme’s launch.
Adly further mentioned that, in addition to the programme launched today, the Armed
Forces Veteran Economic Empowerment programme (PUVET ATM) initiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 31, 2023, with an initial funding of RM1 million, also underscores the government’s dedication to veteran welfare. As a result, ten PUVET ATM programmes have been organised across Peninsular Malaysia, and by November 2024, grants worth RM1.08 million from the Rural and Regional Development Ministry will have been distributed to 216 armed forces veterans.
LTAT chief executive Mohammad Ashraf Md Radzi revealed the establishment of a strategic partnership with People Systems Consultancy (PSC), an experienced agency in training and guiding entrepreneurs, to organise the programme. Over a six-month period, participants will engage in a comprehensive capacity development programme featuring integrated entrepreneurial training modules, mentor-mentee guidance sessions, online learning, and financial literacy education. The programme’s first phase commenced with a three-day intensive training from No
vember 22 to 24, showcasing the participants’ enthusiasm and determination across various business fields.
