Kuala lumpur: Satellite buoys, boat simulators and the Meranti Fishermen's Village will be among the attractions featured by the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) at the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA) 2026. LKIM chairman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said the attractions were aimed at exposing visitors, particularly the younger generation, to new technologies used by LKIM.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Muhammad Faiz Fadzil emphasized the importance of educating the younger generation about maritime conditions and providing them with an opportunity to engage with technologies that will be available at MAHA. He highlighted that satellite buoys would enable visitors to understand how to track fish locations, a technology that significantly aids in reducing fishermen's operational costs.

MAHA 2026 is scheduled to take place at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from August 28 to September 6. The event aims to showcase innovative technologies and sustainable practices in agriculture and fisheries.

Earlier, during the Madani Rahmah Gathering of the LKIM Chairman with Semerak Fishermen at the LKIM Tok Bali Fishery Port, 26 B40 fishermen from the Semerak Area Fishermen's Association received fishing equipment assistance valued at RM50,000 in total. The assistance included 40-horsepower boat engines, fishing nets, fibre barrels, and 2T oil, all intended to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of their economic activities at sea.
