LKIM Disburses RM93,600 In Aid To 49 Fishermen In Port Dickson

Port dickson: The Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) has disbursed RM93,600 to 49 fishermen from the Telok Kemang and Port Dickson Fishermen's Associations (PNK) affected by natural disasters last year.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, LKIM chairman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil stated that 32 of the recipients were impacted by Storm Senyar on November 27, while the remaining beneficiaries received aid due to deaths, damage to homes, fishing equipment, vessels, as well as land and sea accidents. The financial assistance provided ranged between RM500 and RM10,000 per recipient, with a contribution of RM15,500 from the National Fishermen's Association (NEKMAT) for those affected by the storm.

The assistance scheme aims to provide financial aid, goods, or other forms of support to fishermen impacted by accidents or natural disasters. Muhammad Faiz also encouraged fishermen to report any damages promptly to their associations or LKIM to ensure timely delivery of aid.

Additionally, on the topic of the fishermen's subsistence allowance (ESHN), Faiz mentioned that RM1.008 million would be allocated this year to 280 fishermen, with 216 registered under the Port Dickson PNK and 64 under Telok Kemang PNK. In the previous year, 279 fishermen received a total of RM1.004 million.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who officiated the event, expressed that the natural disaster assistance scheme is anticipated to alleviate the burden on the local fishing community, particularly those affected by damage and disasters.
