Ling Ching Battling Fever but Continues Training Ahead Of SEA Games

Bukit kiara: National women’s singles shuttler Wong Ling Ching is down with fever, but she isn’t letting it slow her down ahead of the Thailand SEA Games from Dec 9-20. The 22-year-old said that she has trained her sights on doing the best she can at the biennial Games, and that means there will be no let-up in her training, sick or not.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ling Ching mentioned, “I have a slight fever but I still continue to train. The coach, however, has made some adjustments to accommodate my health.” Despite her current condition, she expressed hope for a speedy recovery and aims to be in prime shape when the team leaves for Bangkok on Friday, Dec 5. This statement was made after her training session at Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara.

Ling Ching is also determined to ensure that the embarrassment the women’s badminton team suffered at the previous edition in Cambodia is not repeated in Bangkok. In the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games in Phnom Penh, the national women’s team faced a disappointing exit from the team competition after suffering a shock 3-0 semi-final loss to minnows Philippines.

As such, Ling Ching is committed to delivering her best performance and securing points whenever she is fielded, with the goal of helping Malaysia avoid another fiasco.
