LIMA’25: Malaysia’s Strategic Platform To Seal MoU On Defence, Innovation – Adly

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia is expected to gain various benefits from the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA’25), particularly in strengthening cooperation with participating countries, said Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari. He stated that LIMA’25, scheduled from May 20 to 24, serves as a major platform for the aerospace and maritime industries to engage in discussions and formalise memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to enhance strategic partnerships across sectors.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, numerous MoUs are anticipated to be signed, especially concerning defence assets on land, sea, and air. The exhibition will be utilised as a platform for bilateral relations, with special conferences and meetings planned to strengthen ties with participating nations, particularly ASEAN member states. This was revealed during a press meeting at the MADANI Village Veterans Programme at the Tengku Muhammad Fa-iz Petra Jamek Mosque.

Adly noted that the ministry is in the final stages of preparation for the event, hoping for a smooth and successful execution. Arrangements for foreign delegations and industry participation are being finalised, with international exhibitors showing very encouraging responses.

He emphasized that this year’s edition will not only showcase defence assets but also highlight the growth of local industries through collaborations among the government, private sector, and international players. LIMA’25 is a joint initiative between the Ministry of Defence and Global Exhibitions and Conferences Sdn Bhd (GEC), focusing on innovation and competitiveness among industry players in line with technological developments.

The event, themed ‘Today’s Progress, Future Achievements’, will be held in Langkawi, Kedah. It is one of the largest exhibitions in the maritime and aerospace industry in Southeast Asia, having been organised since 1991.
