Kuala lumpur: The Department of Environment (DOE) has declared that any letter or document utilising the name, position, or details of its officers for official business not issued through established official channels and procedures, is invalid and not recognised as an official department document.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the DOE issued this clarification following issues circulating on social media and media reports regarding the misuse of the department's name, as well as the names and details of its officers, for booking and procurement purposes, including a case reported in Kuala Lumpur.

"The DOE does not authorise the use of the department's name, positions, or officers' details without permission for such purposes, as this could mislead the public and stakeholders, and compromise the department's credibility and integrity," the statement read.

The department categorically denies any involvement by its officers in bookings, purchases, vendor appointments, or any procurement transactions initiated by any party using the name, position, or identity of department officers.

The DOE has taken the matter seriously and has lodged a police report to enable further investigation by the authorities. It stated that full cooperation would be provided to assist the investigation and ensure the matter is handled in accordance with prevailing laws.

"All official department business, including procurement and vendor appointments, must be conducted in accordance with established protocols, procedures, and official channels," the statement emphasized. "Any party with doubts regarding the authenticity of a letter or document bearing the DOE's name is advised to seek direct verification from the department through official channels."
