LEPAS Unveils L8 PHEV For Global Markets

Kuala lumpur: LEPAS, Chery Auto's mid-to-premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, has introduced the LEPAS L8 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to global markets, combining advanced hybrid technology, intelligent driving features and its signature "Leopard Aesthetics" design philosophy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the company stated that the model is equipped with the LEPAS Super Hybrid system, featuring a dedicated hybrid engine with 45.79 per cent thermal efficiency and a hybrid transmission with 97.6 per cent transmission efficiency. The vehicle offers a comprehensive driving range of up to 1,300 kilometres (km) under New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) conditions and a fuel consumption of 2.38 litres per 100 km.

In a statement, LEPAS said the L8 PHEV supports 40 kilowatt direct current (DC) fast charging, enabling the battery to be charged from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in about the time needed for a coffee break. It is targeted at urban commuting, business travel, and long-distance journeys.

The vehicle features a 2,800-millimetre wheelbase and a range of comfort-focused features, including cloud-comfort lounge seats, an active fragrance system, air quality monitoring, ultraviolet (UV)-blocking glass, and a theatre-class quiet cabin. For safety, the L8 PHEV incorporates a cage-style body made with a high proportion of high-strength steel, up to 10 airbags, and a power battery with IP68/IPX9K protection against water and dust ingress.

The model is also equipped with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), offering more than 20 intelligent driving functions, including 540-degree panoramic transparent imaging, automatic parking assistance, forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic braking. LEPAS said the L8 PHEV is designed to deliver intelligent, safe, and elegant mobility, supporting the brand's global expansion in the fast-growing NEV market.
