Singapore: Singapore Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong's working visit to Terengganu today further strengthened strategic cooperation between both sides in areas including renewable energy and the economy.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Terengganu state government stated that Lee and his delegation were briefed on the state's aspirations and sustainable development plans under the Terengganu Sejahtera Master Plan (PITAS 2030) during a Development Briefing Session at Wisma Darul Iman. Key topics included Terengganu's renewable energy agenda, showcasing its potential as a green energy hub through projects like the Hybrid Hydro Floating Solar project at Tasik Kenyir, Malaysia's largest hybrid floating solar plant.
The state delegation, led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, also provided updates on economic development and investment opportunities involving the silica industry and logistics infrastructure projects, such as the East Coast Rail Link and Kemaman Port. Discussions also covered strategies to enhance tourism connectivity, with Singapore being Malaysia's largest source market for foreign tourists.
The Singapore delegation accompanying Lee included his wife, Ho Ching; Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim; and Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs Edwin Tong. They were welcomed by Terengganu State Secretary Datuk Mohd Azmi Mohamad Daham, state government leaders, and department heads.
Lee's visit is part of a five-day working tour to Pahang and Terengganu, which began on Monday and concludes tomorrow.
