Kuala lumpur: Malaysia needs to learn from China's experience in strengthening the agricultural sector and food security through the use of technology, increased productivity, and the development of rural areas that is planned in a systematic and continuous manner. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu emphasized the importance of adopting suitable strategies from other nations to bolster Malaysia's agro-food sector without compromising the interests of local industry players.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad highlighted China's success in empowering its agricultural sector through technological advancements, productivity enhancements, and strategic rural development. He urged Malaysia to adopt similar approaches tailored to its unique needs while continuing to support local farmers, rice growers, livestock breeders, and fishermen. In a recent Facebook post, Mohamad shared insights from his visit to China, where he attended the 11th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Food Security Ministers' Meeting in Hangzhou.

He also stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with other countries to maintain a robust and stable regional food supply chain. The ultimate goal, he stated, is to ensure sufficient food availability for the population, guarantee supply, and develop a more resilient food system to face future challenges.
