‘Larian Cergas Parlimen’ Fun Run on July 25 to Encourage Health Among Lawmakers and Public

Kuala lumpur: Parliament, through the Malaysian Youth Parliament (PBMy) secretariat, will organize its inaugural 'Larian Cergas Parlimen' fun run on July 25 to promote a healthy lifestyle among members of parliament and the public. Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Dr Johari Abdul announced the event, aiming to create a platform for parliamentarians to advocate for health-conscious living, particularly targeting the youth.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the five-kilometre (5km) run will commence from the Parliament building, traverse several landmarks including Tugu Negara, and conclude back at Parliament. Johari emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, "We want all members of the Dewan Negara and Dewan Rakyat to become influencers in promoting the importance of maintaining good health, not only among fellow lawmakers but also among young people and the wider community."

Recent reports have raised concerns about the health of elected representatives, attributed to demanding work schedules and unhealthy lifestyles. Johari highlighted these issues as a catalyst for organizing the event, aiming to foster a culture of healthy living among lawmakers and the public. The fun run will also be open to members of the public, encouraging widespread participation in this health-focused initiative.
