Lampu 2024 Returns To Light Up Putrajaya Nights

PUTRAJAYA: The Light and Motion Putrajaya Festival, known as LAMPU, has made a comeback after nearly five years, rekindling the night sky with luminous displays since December 27. The festival, which features a futuristic theme, has invited renowned Italian designers Michele Pusceddu and Antaless Visual Design to enthrall visitors with their innovative creations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the festival also showcases the significant contributions of local talents. Hairul Effendi Asaha, LAMPU 2024’s Creative and Technical Director, shared insights into the challenges faced in producing captivating visual performances. He emphasized the importance of time management and the meticulous crafting of content that aligns with the theme while avoiding cultural sensitivities.

Hairul Effendi, who has been involved with LAMPU since its inception in 2013, stressed the vital role of precise color selection and music in narrating stories through light. With 15 years of experience in the industry, he highlighted the necessity of a skilled technical team to support the elaborate preparations required for such events.

While acknowledging the essential role of international designers, Hairul Effendi expressed that their presence is crucial in elevating the quality of LAMPU’s performances. He believes that the collaboration with foreign talents serves as an inspiration for local artists to expand their creative horizons. He envisions LAMPU reaching the stature of prestigious international light festivals within three years.

Mohd Hafiz Abdul Khalek, Director of the Project Management Division at the Putrajaya Corporation, noted that managing outdoor performances presents unique challenges, particularly in communication. He emphasized the importance of clear and error-free communication in noisy open spaces, which is crucial for the event’s success.

Themed ‘Illuminating the Future,’ LAMPU 2024 is organized by the Putrajaya Corporation and runs from December 27 to 31 at the Palace of Justice. The venue serves as the main screen for the mega light mapping display, which is divided into five segments, each lasting 30 minutes. The event aims to highlight the evolution of Malaysia’s lighting industry and promote Putrajaya as a modern city with remarkable architecture.
