Johor: Passengers affected by the disruption to the Electric Train Service (ETS) following a lorry crash on the Kulai-Kempas Baru rail track in Johor will be transported by shuttle buses to Kulai Station before continuing their journey by train to their respective destinations. Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) said shuttle buses had been provided from JB Sentral Station and Kempas Baru Station to Kulai Station to assist affected passengers.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, passengers affected by the disruption who choose not to continue their journey will be given a full refund. They may also seek further assistance from KTMB staff on duty at the stations. Three ETS services from JB Sentral were affected this morning, namely ETS 9442 (JB Sentral-Padang Besar), ETS 9524 (JB Sentral-KL Sentral) and ETS 9326 (JB Sentral-Butterworth).
For the Shuttle Selatan service, the Pasir Gudang-JB Sentral-Pasir Gudang and Kempas Baru-JB Sentral-Kempas Baru routes remain in operation, while the Kulai-Kempas Baru-Kulai route has been suspended. KTMB said restoration works were still underway to remove the fallen concrete structure (parapet) that had come into contact with the overhead line (OHL) on both tracks.
According to KTMB, it was informed by the lorry company involved, Transmare-Chemie (M) Sdn Bhd, at 3 am that the 120-tonne crane required to remove the concrete structure had yet to be secured. Once the crane is available, lifting and removal works are expected to begin at around 10 am. However, the reopening of the affected rail line has yet to be determined as it will depend on the progress of the works, technical inspections and safety clearance.
KTMB said it would continue to coordinate restoration works with the relevant parties, and train operations would resume only after the track and the OHL system had been certified safe for use. Yesterday, Shuttle Selatan and ETS services on the Kulai-Kempas route were delayed after a lorry carrying flammable liquid skidded near the rail line, causing a power supply disruption.
