Kuala lumpur: The flood situation in Kuching has fully recovered after the two temporary relief centres (PPS) that were in operation were closed at noon today. The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) confirmed the closure of the relief centres at R-Piang Hall and Stapok Community Hall, which were opened yesterday, marking a return to normalcy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the relief centres were closed at 12 noon today. Earlier, at 8 am, the R-Piang Hall relief centre housed 116 evacuees from 24 families, comprising residents from Kampung Sinar Budi Baru. Meanwhile, the Stapok Community Hall relief centre accommodated 225 evacuees from 67 families, involving residents of Kampung Desa Ria.

Several areas in Kuching city began experiencing flooding following continuous heavy rain yesterday morning. The swift recovery has allowed the evacuees to return to their homes as the water levels receded and the situation stabilized.
