Kuala Krai Flooding Recovery on Track with Improved Weather Conditions

KUALA KRAI: The flooding situation in the Kuala Krai district is showing signs of improvement, with favorable weather conditions contributing to a significant decrease in river water levels. Officials anticipate a full recovery by the end of the day.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nik Mohd Hasanuddin Nik Hussain, chairman of the Kuala Krai Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB), reported that three temporary evacuation centers in Chuchoh Puteri were closed as of 11 a.m. today. However, one center in Chenulang remains operational. “We are seeing improvements in the weather today, and if the situation remains under control, we expect all PPSs in Kuala Krai to be closed by the end of the day,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Penghulu of Mukim Kampung Chenulang, Ab Aziz Isa, advised evacuees at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Chenulang to assess the condition of their homes prior to returning. He emphasized the importance of ensuring safety and road passability before proceeding with cleanup efforts and other activities.

A Bernama inspection of several affected villages in Kuala Krai revealed that overflowing streams had begun to recede, and stagnant water on main roads was subsiding, indicating a gradual return to normalcy in the region.
