KTMB Introduces Extra ETS Services for Christmas and School Holiday Season

Kuala lumpur: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is extending its services with four additional Electric Train Service (ETS) services, accounting for 22,680 tickets, to accommodate travelers during this year’s Christmas and third term school holiday period. These services are aimed at ensuring optimal travel options for passengers during peak travel times.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KTMB announced that the additional services will be operational from December 19 to January 11, 2026. These services will cover routes between KL Sentral and Padang Besar, as well as KL Sentral and Butterworth, with ticket sales commencing at 10 am tomorrow. Specifically, two additional ETS services will run daily on the Padang Besar-KL Sentral-Padang Besar route, while two more will operate on weekends – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – on the Butterworth-KL Sentral-Butterworth sector.

The statement from KTMB highlighted that these extra ETS services are designed to address the high demand experienced when tickets for regular ETS services are sold out. KTMB expressed its dedication to providing effective travel solutions that cater to passenger needs, ensuring that rail services continue to be a preferred transportation choice in Malaysia by offering travel that is both comfortable and secure.

KTMB is urging passengers to plan their journeys in advance and purchase tickets early to benefit from flexible fares and avoid last-minute rushes. The statement also reminded travelers to arrive at stations 30 minutes before departure, as entry gates will close five minutes prior to train departure.
