Kuala lumpur: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has announced a special 30 percent discount on its Electric Train Service (ETS) route between KL Sentral and Kluang in light of the upcoming Deepavali celebrations.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the promotion is available for ticket purchases made from October 20 to November 30, for travel occurring between October 24 and November 30. Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin, KTMB’s chief technical officer and acting group chief executive officer, specified that passengers can utilize the discount by using the promo code GO2KLUANG30 during ticket booking.
Ahmad Nizam mentioned that 5,000 promo codes are being offered, contingent on certain terms and conditions. In anticipation of heightened travel demand during the festive season, KTMB has prepared 278,792 tickets available from October 16 to 26. This encompasses 121,128 tickets for the ETS, 46,684 tickets for KTM Intercity services, and 107,200 tickets for the Shuttle Tebrau service to Singapore.
Additionally, KTMB has launched two extra trains on the KL Sentral-Padang Besar-KL Sentral route from October 17 to 22, with 3,780 additional tickets available since October 7. Ahmad Nizam emphasized that this effort aims to accommodate the increased travel demand for Deepavali and promote public transport as a safer and more sustainable travel choice.
To facilitate a smooth travel experience, KTMB has implemented additional security measures by deploying more Auxiliary Police officers and staff at crucial stations. Passengers are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before their scheduled departure time as boarding gates will close five minutes prior to train departure.

In a related initiative for the festive season, KTMB has also distributed 1,000 Deepavali gift packs to passengers of the ETS and Komuter services at KL Sentral and Butterworth stations in Penang. The gift packs, containing murukku, mixed nuts, and a drink, were distributed by Ministry of Transport secretary-general Datuk Seri Jana Santhiran Muniayan, KTMB chairman Datuk Ahmad Redza Abdullah, and Ahmad Nizam.
